The Ebenezer hitmaker was in a terrible accident while driving to Delmas, where he was supposed to perform at a church service.
Sipho is the founder of Big Fish Music and has discovered some of Mzansi’s leading gospel stars such as Hlengiwe Mhlaba, Thobekile Mkhwanazi and Tshepiso Motaung.
General manager at Big Fish Music Cynthia Matsenjwa said Sipho was in the intensive care unit at Life Midmed Hospital in Middelburg, Mpumalanga.
She told Daily Sun how the accident happened.
“He was on his way to Delmas to attend a church service when the accident happened. It had been raining hard and his car veered off the slippery road.”
Gospel giant Hlengiwe Mhlaba said she learned of the news from the pastor of the church where Sipho was to perform.
“At first I was shocked, but I know he will be fine.
“My belief in God won’t let me think otherwise. He can’t leave me now. I still need him.
“You can’t speak of Hlengiwe Mhlaba and not mention Sipho Makhabane,” she said.
“He has fathered me in this industry and made me who I am,” she added.
Hlengiwe said her colleagues felt confident Sipho would make it through as he was in a stable condition at the moment.
Thobekile Mkhwanazi, who also owes her success to Big Fish, said: “When I heard the news the Bible verse that says: ‘everything will be all right in Christ’ came to me.
“Even though he is in ICU I believe he will be okay. He has been a big influence in my life and I will continue to keep him in my prayers.”
A sad Thinah Zungu, who was featured in Makhabane’s hit song, Devil Is a Liar, said: “When Thobekile told me about the accident on Sunday, I was driving home and I almost got into an accident.
“He supports every thing I do and we formed a bond after he featured me in Devil Is A Liar.”
Thinah wished Sipho a speedy recovery, saying that they still had many plans that needed to happen.
“He is like a friend and a father to me,” he said. – Daily Sun.
